GASTROENTEROLOGY & HEPATOLOGY

Dr. Marco A. Paez joined United Gastroenterologist with great excitement in January 2023 and is dedicated to delivering personalized and compassionate care throughout the Southern California area.

Dr. Marco A. Paez was born in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami-Dade College and Florida International University (FIU). He graduated with a competitive degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. He then matriculated at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where he graduated with his Medical Doctorate degree in 2012. During his medical school training, he studied abroad in Argentina where he provided patient care to the community. His talents and passion for patient care took him to Chicago, Illinois where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine from Loyola University Medical Center. During his residency, he received a resident research award for his work on Celiac Disease. He then completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. During his fellowship, he was privileged to have worked alongside leading expert physicians in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He also completed rotations in Gastroenterology at the Washington D.C., Veterans Affair Medical Center, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and Kaiser Permanent Medical Center in Northern Virginia.

Dr. Paez is passionate about all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has a particular clinical interest in Interventional Gastroenterology as he completed his advanced fellowship training in Interventional Endoscopy and Endosonography at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 2019. He developed advanced endoscopic skills including endoscopic mucosal resection of large polyps (EMR), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatophraphy (ERCP). Dr. Paez is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is also a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and has published journal articles and abstracts relative to advances in clinical Gastroenterology. Prior to joining United Gastroenterologists, he was Medical Director of the GI division of Citrus Valley Medical associates in Corona, CA where received multiple awards including Presidents Award Recipient of 2020 and selected for Corona’s “40 Under 40 Award” in 2020.

During his free time, he enjoys watching all sports including the Miami Dolphins, Heat, Marlins and the Liverpool Football Club. He is an avid Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, enjoys playing the saxophone, exercising and most of all spending time with his wife and two boys. He speaks and writes fluently in Spanish.
