Dr. Kelly L. McKerahan, DO, is a board-certified osteopathic physician with over 30 years of medical experience, with a focus in family medicine. Dr. McKerahan graduated from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He subsequently completed his Family Medicine residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Dr. McKerahan offers personalized primary care services and has a special interest in sports medicine and medical acupuncture. He is certified in medical acupuncture, completing the physician course at UCLA in 2006. He practices primary care sports medicine and emphasizes this alongside medical acupuncture treatments, which he finds to be highly effective for treating musculoskeletal issues. With his Christian faith deeply guiding his approach to medicine, he is committed to providing holistic and spiritual care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Throughout his career, Dr. McKerahan has been dedicated to providing compassionate care during disasters and crises. He has volunteered both nationally and internationally, providing medical care in various underserved communities. Some of his notable volunteer experiences include:
- Volunteering at free clinics in Columbus, OH
- Serving in a low-income clinic in Jamaica during his residency training
- Assisting in emergency clinics following Hurricane Katrina in 2005
- Volunteering at Rancho Community Church’s free medical clinic
- Mentoring medical students and serving as adjunct clinical faculty at UC Riverside School of Medicine
- Supporting Project Touch Homeless Ministry emergency shelter
Dr. McKerahan is passionate about giving back to his community and fostering the next generation of medical professionals. He resides in Murrieta, CA, with his wife, Karin. His daughter, Megan, is married and, following in his footsteps, is attending Osteopathic medical school. The McKerahan family is an active member of Reliance Church in Temecula, where they regularly attend services and engage in community activities.
When not in the office, Dr. McKerahan enjoys traveling, scuba diving, motorsports, and cheering on Ohio State football. He is an accomplished athlete, having competed in eight Ironman Triathlons, over a dozen marathons, and half-marathons. He also plays the bass guitar in his church worship band.
