Dr. Yi Cai earned her medical degree at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN. Following graduation, she completed her internship and residency training in anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. She then completed an interventional pain fellowship at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Cai is double board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management.

She enjoys caring for patients with chronic pain by using a multimodal approach, following the Center for Disease Control’s guidelines on opioid sparing techniques and focusing on intervention. She treats cancer pain, chronic regional pain syndrome, migraines, as well as various musculoskeletal pain conditions, including back pain, neck pain, myofascial pain, neuropathic pain, joint pain, and post-surgical pain. Procedures performed include but are not limited to: Epidural steroid injections, Selective Nerve Root Blocks, Joint injections, Nerve Ablations, Trigger Points, Sympathetic Blocks, Peripheral nerve injections, Botulism Toxin injections for migraine/pain. She is also skilled in various advanced interventional therapies, including Spinal Cord Stimulation, Dorsal Root Ganglion stimulation, and Stem Cell Treatment. She strongly believes in shared decision making with her patients, and her goal is to reduce opioid use by using multimodal therapies to help patients return to function.

She is an active member of the North American Neuromodulation Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the Spine Intervention Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

In her spare time, she enjoys an active lifestyle outdoors, focusing on fitness and traveling.
