Dr. Sumit Khandhar earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Subsequently, he attended and earned his medical degree at Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA. Following graduation, he completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. He then completed fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at Kaiser Sunset Los Angeles Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Khandhar is board certified in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Echocardiography.

He specializes and enjoys caring for Coronary Artery Disease (Atherosclerosis) patients using a multimodal approach, including preventative and therapeutic methods. This involves consultation, risk factor assessment, in-office testing, medication management, and minimally invasive procedures if needed. He is trained and skilled in performing angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement in simple and complex anatomy. He has performed thousands of these procedures, both in elective and emergency settings. Dr. Khandhar performs the majority of his cases via the radial artery in the wrist (associated with less pain, bleeding complications, and hospital length of stay). Still, it can also be done via the groin’s femoral artery if needed. He is trained in diagnosing and managing various Cardiovascular Diseases, including Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Hypertension, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, etc. Dr. Khandhar strongly believes in shared decision-making with his patients. His goal is to improve the quality and quantity of life using evidence-based medicine and up-to-date guideline-based management. He is an active member of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids in his spare time. He leads an active lifestyle, including running, cycling, hiking, and traveling. He enjoys music and cooking, as well as entertaining family and friends.
