Omar Shahbaz, MD

GASTROENTEROLOGY & HEPATOLOGY

Dr. Shahbaz was born in Rochester, New York and moved to France where he completed high school at the American School of Paris. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Northwestern University. He then pursued a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University before enrolling in medical training at St. George’s University.

Dr. Shahbaz completed internal medicine training at the University of Connecticut, where he served as chief medical resident. He then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Georgetown University, where he was selected as chief GI fellow.

Prior to joining United Gastroenterologists, he established a GI practice in Corona, CA. In 2018 Dr. Shahbaz was selected for Corona’s “40 Under 40 Award.”

Dr. Shahbaz is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, The American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

In his free time he enjoys bike riding, tennis, traveling, and spending time with his wife and 2 children. He is fluent in French and proficient in Farsi, Italian, and Spanish.
