As the highest-volume robotic general and colorectal surgeon in Southern California, Dr. Matthew Schultzel specializes in surgically removing large masses with very small incisions. Dr. Schultzel attended the University of California, San Diego for his undergraduate studies, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He received his medical degree from the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine-California.
While Dr. Schultzel’s area of expertise is minimally invasive colorectal surgery, his passion for treating the whole patient is what sets him apart. With a concierge-style practice that prioritizes compassionate, personalized care, he is also the only one in San Diego that provides the combined skills of a specialty surgeon and a gastroenterologist.
His mission is to provide top level surgical care to all his patients. He employs the newest technology and has undergone a great deal of training in order to bring the most advanced treatment modalities to his patients.
