Lisa Xu, MD, FAAD

Dr. Xu is a board-certified, Harvard-trained dermatologist who is the Founding Director of United Dermatology and Laser Center. She has extensive experience in both medical and aesthetic dermatology. She earned her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine where she graduated at the top of her class, followed by a dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan. She completed a prestigious laser and cosmetic fellowship at Harvard Medical School under Dr. R. Rox Anderson, the inventor of most of the laser technologies in dermatology including laser hair and tattoo removal, fractional laser rejuvenation, and Coolsculpting for fat removal. She has served as faculty at Johns Hopkins University where she trained numerous dermatology residents in medical and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Xu is active in research and innovation and has served as Director of Clinical Research at Indiana University. She also received the first prize research award from the Michigan Dermatologic Society for her innovative studies in laser medicine. She is a frequently invited speaker at national and regional conferences and has published numerous medical articles and book chapters. She also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, the number one dermatologic journal in the world.
Dr. Xu provides the full spectrum of dermatologic care including skin exams, treatment of skin cancer, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema. She is also experienced in all aspects of laser surgery including facial rejuvenation, body contouring, treatment of brown spots, birthmarks, blood vessels and scars. She is an expert injector of Botox™ and hyaluronic acid fillers using advanced techniques. Known for her gentle touch and compassionate demeanor, patients travel near and far to see her. It is no surprise that she was honored with the Southern California Top Doctor award in 2021.
In her spare time, Dr. Xu enjoys playing the piano, singing and spending time with her family. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
