Dr. Diana Yao was raised just outside of Portland, Oregon. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by her medical degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Yao later completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at UC Irvine.

Dr. Yao is board-certified in Gastroenterology and is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.

Before joining United Medical Doctors in 2024, Dr. Yao practiced with Long Beach Gastroenterology Associates from 1996 to 2024. Her primary areas of interest include general GI consultations and colon cancer screenings, with extensive experience in endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.

Outside of work, Dr. Yao and her family enjoy staying active through skiing, fly fishing, wakeboarding, hiking, and traveling.
