David Stanton, MD

GASTROENTEROLOGY & HEPATOLOGY

David B. Stanton, MD is the founder of David B. Stanton, MD & Associates, A Medical Group, Inc., and GastroDiagnostics Endoscopy Center, the first office-based, Medicare-certified endoscopy center in Orange County. He has been in the practice of Gastroenterology and Hepatology since 1986.

Dr. Stanton was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Columbia College in New York City for his undergraduate studies, graduating Cum Laude in 1977. He received the MD degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston in 1981. From there, he moved to San Francisco, to complete his internal medicine residency and fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of California San Francisco.

While in practice, Dr. Stanton has specialized in all the diseases of the digestive tract, including liver disease. In recent years, he has placed a special emphasis on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and advanced endoscopy. He has completed further training in nutrition and sports nutrition.

Dr. Stanton has performed over 60,000 endoscopic procedures, with a complication rate far below the norm for gastroenterologists. He has a near 100% completion rate for colonoscopies and a detection rate for precancerous colon polyps well above the national average.

Over the past 28 years, Dr. Stanton has chaired Gastroenterology subcommittees at multiple hospitals, has been a Chief of Medicine, and has served on the Board of Directors of Western Medical Center, Santa Ana. He has been honored as an Orange County Physician of Excellence more than ten times, and has been elected to fellowship of both the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association. He served on the clinical faculty of the UCI School of Medicine until 2014.

Dr. Stanton is married with three children and lives in Newport Beach. He enjoys cycling, golf and skiing.
