CARDIOLOGY

Dr. Bakr I. Salem is a highly esteemed cardiologist joining United Medical Doctors in San Diego, bringing with him over 40 years of experience in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Salem is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He earned his medical degree from Cairo University in Egypt and completed his cardiology fellowship at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Heart Institute.

Throughout his career, Dr. Salem has been dedicated to both invasive and noninvasive cardiology, with extensive expertise in interventional cardiology, echocardiography, stress testing, and cardiac catheterization. His clinical interests include the management of coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypertension, arrhythmias, and preventive cardiology.

Dr. Salem has held prominent positions, including Co-Director of the Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri, and has been an attending cardiologist at St. Luke’s Hospital for four decades with Cardiac Specialists of St. Luke’s. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Salem has contributed significantly to cardiology research and literature, with numerous publications in prestigious medical journals. His work has focused on various aspects of cardiology, including electrocardiographic patterns, coronary artery disease, and cardiac catheterization.

Dr. Salem is fluent in both English and Arabic, and he is passionate about providing comprehensive cardiac care and improving the heart health of his patients through preventive measures and patient education. He is now focused on adult clinical cardiology in the outpatient setting, aiming to bring his extensive knowledge and compassionate care to the San Diego community.

Dr. Salem is looking forward to collaborating with primary care physicians, other cardiologists, and internal medicine specialists to provide the highest standard of cardiac care at United Medical Doctors.
